My friend Melissa set a day for us to go up to the apple orchards up in Oak Glen for us to get in our fall feel. Another friend in our ward takes their family up there often and told us about it, so we were excited to take the kids up there to do some apple and pumpkin picking. We almost didn't make it. On our way up there our car over heated and we had to pull to the side of the road. As we were driving to find a car place to see the problem the car all of the sudden seemed to be fine, we were grateful because the kids would have been so disappointed to not be able to go to the apple orchards. We stopped at the Riley Farms apple orchards. We couldn't find our friends so we just decided to go explore just our family.
It was really fun, all the workers were dressed up in old fashioned clothing and they had different activities that you could do like the apple press where you could make your own apple cider. They had archery and tomahawk throwing. Both our boys did the archery and tomahawk throwing. Here Daxton is above shooting his bow and arrow.
Mckynlee just hanging out while the boys did their activities. She was looking forward to the apple picking, since she absolutely loves apples.

And our cute little man just hanging out enjoying being out in the mountain air. After the boys were done doing their activities we went apple picking. I was so mad because I went to pull out my camera to take pictures of the kids picking apples and my camera battery was dead. I was so bummed. After we finished picking apples we were going to let the boys pick pumpkins, but then they started closing down at that orchard. Brock was so upset. So we all got in the car ready to leave. We started to drive down the road to head back and we saw our friends cars parked down at another Riley's Farm entrance. So we stopped and got out and luckily at that section of the farm it was still ok to pick pumpkins and they had a better selection.
And luckily we found our friends and Melissa had her camera so she let me take pictures of the kids picking pumpkins. It was so pretty up there on the hill as the sun was setting. Here is Dax holding the pumpkin he picked out.
He kept changing his mind about what pumpkin he wanted, but he ended up just picking the first one he picked out.
Brock took this pumpkin picking business serious. It was so cute.
He finally found the perfect pumpkin. And he said to me, "Mom this is the best pumpkin ever!"
These pumpkins were obviously more than the pumpkins you could buy at the grocery store, so we only let Brock and Dax pick one. I let Mckynlee pick up a couple for picture taking purposes, but then we put them back when she wasn't noticing because we knew she would forget.
Walking back from picking our pumpkins.

Family shot. All the buildings there were old buildings probably built in the 1800's. After we were done up at the pumpkin patch we went to the restaurant they had there at Riley's farm. It was kind of cool, like I mentioned before all the workers were in old fashioned clothing. The inside of the restaurant was true to the time period. When we finally got to eating it was dark outside and they only lit the restaurant by candles so we were kind of eating in the dark, which was cool. They served delicious apple sauce with the kids meals, yummy sweet potato fries. I got a chicken pot pie which was delicious and the apple cider was amazing. We had such a good time and it was a great family activity, we'll definitely be taking the kids back up there, it was such a fun experience for them.
